4OneTwoLax recently posted a video of Richie Ford (Stevenson '10), and asked if Ford was the most exciting attackman of all-time in D3. 412 claimed that he was, and I think it's hard to definitively argue otherwise. "Exciting" is all about personal preference and opinion. If 412 says it's Ford, I won't argue! If you factor in the fact that film doesn't exist online for most of these guys, the claim makes even more sense.

  • You forgot Bill Miller, Hobart '91. He is a HOF inductee this year. He was the so good Quint Kessenich thought that as a D3 player he should have won the tewaaraton trophy. He was an incredible dodger. Everyone in every stadium watched every touch he had because you never knew what was coming. He played on a D3 team that played a D1 schedule.

First Team AA 89-91. HM AA as a freshman. 4 D3 Titles.

A little earlier than I was talking about (more than 20 years ago), but an AWESOME submission. TRUE baller! Thanks Karl! Great comment!

  • Good List. Gotta give Tom Ryan the #1 vote! Having played against a bunch of these, I would go with Bergey edging bonaseras, hopkins, and landay of my gen. How does hessler compare with Brian Griffin?

I had a hard time not putting Griff on the list. Griffin probably had better balance than anyone I have ever covered. I give credit to all the surfing he does. Seriously. Hessler is quicker, but I don't know if he's actually better. Very different players... Griffin was a banger, ball carrier, feeder, kind of reminded me of Ryan Powell. Hessler was more like Casey. Does that comparison make sense?

I don't know D3 very well, but how can Sam Bradman not even be mentioned? Has anyone had a more dominant Championship Game performance?
